Carmen Miranda was named after Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha. It was the seconddaughter of Joseph Barber Maria Cunha Pinto (1887-1938) and Maria Emilia Miranda(1886-1971). Carmen got the nickname in Brazil, thanks to the love that his father had with opera.
