Charles Chaplin

Chaplin was one of the most famous actors of the silent film era, distinguished themselvesby the use of mime and slapstick comedy.

Charlie Chaplin acted in, directed, wrote and produced his own films, being strongly influenced by a predecessor, the French comedian Max Linder, to whom he dedicated oneof his films. His career in the entertainment lasted more than 75 years since their firstperformances when he was a kid in the theaters in the United Kingdom during the Victorian era almost until his death at 88 years of age. His public and private life encompassed both adulation and controversy. Together with Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and D. W.Griffith, Chaplin co-founded United Artists in 1919.
In 2008, a review of the book Chaplin: A Life, Martin Sieff writes: "Chaplin was not just'great', it was huge. In 1915, he broke out a war-torn world bringing the gift of comedy, laughter and relief while he was splitting in half by the First World War. During the next 25 years, through the Great Depression and the rise of Hitler, he remained in employmenthewas bigger than any oneit is doubtful that any other individual has given moreentertainment, pleasure and relief to so many human beings when they most needed. "

Even though your heart is aching, smile. ~ Quote by Charles Chaplin
