Laurel and Hardy




The two comedians first worked together in the silent film The Lucky Dog (1921). After a period appearing separately in several short films at the Hal Roach studio during the 1920s,they started performing together in 1926. Laurel and Hardy officially became a double the following year and soon became the most profitable stars Hal Roach. Among his most popular films and successful feature films are the Sons of the Desert (1933), Two RoguesGrits (1937), and The Veterans Supper (1938) and the short Arromba Business (1929), Freedom and Its Hazards (1929) and Music Box (1932), the latter won the Oscar for BestShort Film

In May 1954, Hardy had a myocardial infarction, in 1955, the duo was hired, along with HalRoach, Jr., for a TV series based on the tale of Mother Goose ("Mother Goose"), Laureland Hardy's Fabulous Fables. Laurel, however, suffered a stroke, with a slowconvalescence. Hardy had a stroke on September 15, 1956, becoming paralyzed andbedridden for several months without talking and moving.
Stan lived his last years in an apartment in the Oceana Hotel in Santa Monica. Jerry Lewiswas one of many comedians who visited him, taking their suggestions for the production ofThe Bellboy (1960).
Died of a heart attack, aged 74. His body is buried at Forest Lawn-Hollywood HillsCemetery in Los Angeles.
